Working with an architect involves a sequence of decisions, each one building on the last. The more those decisions are tested and challenged, the more robust they will be and less likely to unravel later — in planning, on site, or in the finished building.
RIBA registered
As a RIBA Chartered Practice, an architectural firm accredited by the RIBA that meets high standards for professional service, ethical conduct, and design excellence; our design follows the RIBA Plan of Work — the definitive model for the design and construction of buildings. Every member of a team is an RIBA registered Architect or training to be an architect.
STAGE 1
Early design & feasibility
It is all too easy to under-estimate how important it is to explore alternatives and challenge the brief from the outset.
The first substantive stage is where most of the important thinking happens. Before anything goes to planning, we spend time understanding the brief: not just what you want, but why, how the building needs to work, and what the site allows. Most people arrive with a strong initial idea, but lack the skills to develop the rest of the picture and much less a sense of how to get there. Closing that gap is what early design work is for.

Ready to start your project?
Every project starts with exploring what the site, the brief, and the way you actually live make possible — not with a single idea presented for approval. Our early design stage develops three distinct directions before any one of them is taken further.

Stanton Andrews has been working with private clients, property owners, and developers across Ribble Valley and the wider North West since 2006. Our 2025 NW region LABC Building Excellence Award for best new build recognised the effort, collaboration and endeavour the practice made in developing an exemplar solution in a highly sensitive location.
Every project starts with a conversation. There’s no obligation attached to that, and the questions you bring don’t need to be fully formed. Understanding the project clearly enough to advise you well is part of what that first meeting is for.
