About us

Stanton Andrews was established in 2006 and has grown into an architect-led, RIBA Chartered practice working across private homes, existing buildings, heritage projects and commercial schemes throughout the North West.

The architecture matters — but so does how early decisions get made. At the start of any project, we explore several design directions rather than arriving with a preferred answer — so that what gets built reflects your site, your brief, and the way you want to live.

Where it all began

The practice was founded in 2006 by [founder name/s — to be confirmed], [brief background sentence: training, prior experience, or what drew them to the Ribble Valley — to be confirmed by client]. From the beginning, the focus was on private residential work and on buildings that carry some history — the kind of projects where the decisions made early on are the hardest to undo later.

That focus has shaped how the practice is structured. The team has stayed deliberately small, so that the architect responsible for the design remains involved through planning, detailed design, and into construction. Work spans new homes on open plots, significant extensions and remodels, listed buildings and other heritage-sensitive sites, and occasional commercial commissions — projects concentrated across Ribble Valley, Clitheroe, and the wider Lancashire and North West region.

Architecture that begins
with your brief, not ours.

The aesthetic of each project matters — and it follows from the site, the brief, and how the client wants to use the building, rather than from a house style applied before those things are understood. In 2025 the practice received a regional LABC Building Excellence Award, recognition that comes from the local authority building control process rather than internal submission, and reflects the standard of work on site.

Our values

Values that define us

Clarity.

Committing to a building project means making decisions that carry real weight, often without a background in architecture or construction. We're open about what each choice involves — the costs, the trade-offs, the things it commits you to — so nothing important happens without you seeing it clearly first.

Collaboration.

The best buildings come from understanding how someone wants to live or work, not from imposing a house style. We explore more than one direction early, then develop the one that's right with you rather than handing a finished answer down.

Craft.

Care over detail is what separates a building that works from one that nearly does. How a junction resolves, how light enters a room, how a building meets its site — these are the things you live with, and the things we give our attention to.

The Team

The people behind the practice.

The team is small by design. Every project is led by a qualified architect, and that architect stays with it — through design development, planning, and the stages that follow. All architectural staff hold RIBA registration, which means their qualifications and professional conduct are independently maintained.
